BOOK REVIEW: City Of Bones by Cassandra Clare

Summary:
When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder -- much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It's hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing -- not even a smear of blood -- to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?

This is Clary's first meeting with the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. It's also her first encounter with Jace, a Shadowhunter who looks a little like an angel and acts a lot like a jerk. Within twenty-four hours Clary is pulled into Jace's world with a vengeance, when her mother disappears and Clary herself is attacked by a demon. But why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know. . . .

Exotic and gritty, exhilarating and utterly gripping, Cassandra Clare's ferociously entertaining fantasy takes readers on a wild ride that they will never want to end.

Rate: 5 out of 5 stars!

My thoughts:
WOW. This book.........is something! The plot was quite amazing. Fast-paced, & thrilling with enough romance and mystery to keep everyone in its grip. And what an iron-fast grip it is! You are wraped in from page 2 and you don’t want to let go for the world.
The thing I loved the most about this book was the characters! All of the characters in City of Bones are really well-written and easily lovable. Isabelle is such a strong character. I would love to meet her.....or have her as a body guard. Either one's great! And i think it's awsome how Cassandra clare gave the gay population some voice, through Alec. Clary was a cool lead character and i loved how her and Jace had alot of snarky conversations. Which bring me to Jace! Jace … oh my, Jace! He’s the kind of boy that will melt your insides. He certinally has his bad qualities, yet, to me, they are all perfection!! *fan girl in lovvvvee* I know, i know....you're all probablly like "blahhh, Jace isn't perfect", but all his bad qualities make him way more realistic!
His romance with Clary? Fast and furious. I personally think that they make a really beautiful couple - one that seems to love each other so beautifully that they put shame to other couples in the same room. I have no doubt that this *ahem obstacle* (NO SPOILER) will turn out to be not true because that just ruins the chances for these two and I kind of doubt any author would do that in the first book. On the other hand, I do NOT like Simon and Clary. To be honest, I feel like that was just thrown in for more entertainment and there’s really nothing there. Please, Cassandra, don’t turn this into a love triangle! Isn’t one person enough for you? And Please please please tell me Alec and Magnus Bane have a chance!! That’s something I’m rooting for even more than the others. I know there’s probably a huge age difference, but it’s not too great to be overcome, right?
So overall, I’m just beating myself up for not reading this sooner! City of Ashes, where are you??? :)

Quotes:

“Don't order any of the faerie food," said Jace, looking at her over the top of his menu. "It tends to make humans a little crazy. One minute you're munching a faerie plum, the next minute you're running naked down Madison Avenue with antlers on your head. Not," he added hastily, "that this has ever happened to me.”
Cassandra Clare, City of Bones

“That's why when major badasses greet each other in movies, they don't say anything, they just nod. The nod means, 'I' am a badass, and I recognize that you, too, are a badass,' but they don't say anything because they're Wolverine and Magneto and it would mess up their vibe to explain.”
Cassandra Clare, City of Bones

“I forgot that's what gets you all hot and bothered, Jace, girls killing things."
"I like anyone killing things, especially me." he said with a smile.”
Cassandra Clare, City of Bones

“Investigation?" Isabelle laughed. "Now we're detectives? Maybe we should all have code names."
"Good idea," said Jace. "I shall be Baron Hotschaft Von Hugenstein.”
Cassandra Clare, City of Bones

“Going round and around inside a dryer can be fatal, whereas pasta is rarely fatal. Unless Isabelle makes it.”
Cassandra Clare, City of Bones

  1. I'm glad that you loved it, Estefania! I'll agree with you that Jace is everyone's favorite snarky character, but I just can't agree that this book is perfect. Unfortunately, I thought that it could have been a bit faster paced. But I'm super glad that you liked it!

Isabelle is totally awesome, and I would TOTALLY LOVE to have her as a friend. She kicks some serious butt, doesn't she?? :D I would reveal some spoilers for you, but I don't want to ruin the surprise for you!

    Fantastic review, Estefania!

    1. The only issue I really had with the book, was how Casssandra Clare threw alot of information at the reader in the beginning, instead of spreading the information out through out the book. It was like being hit with a big ball of Story Plots. It would have kept alot of the reader more engaged in the book. Other than that I really loved the book!
