LET'S TALK: Divergent Casting

So many YA books are being adapted into movie nowadays. So I thought, hey, why not talk about them. Now, I haven't read EVERY YA book out there. That's almost impossible, but for the many I HAVE read, I will most likely be posting about them. Today, I wanted to talk about Divergent by Veronica Roth. The casting, to be more specific. Lets go ahead and get started!
WANING: This might be long!

In Beatrice Prior's dystopian Chicago world, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue--Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is--she can't have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself. During the highly competitive initiation that follows, Beatrice renames herself Tris and struggles alongside her fellow initiates to live out the choice they have made. Together they must undergo extreme physical tests of endurance and intense psychological simulations, some with devastating consequences. As initiation transforms them all, Tris must determine who her friends really are--and where, exactly, a romance with a sometimes fascinating, sometimes exasperating boy fits into the life she's chosen. But Tris also has a secret, one she's kept hidden from everyone because she's been warned it can mean death. And as she discovers unrest and growing conflict that threaten to unravel her seemingly perfect society, she also learns that her secret might help her save those she loves . . . or it might destroy her.
     General Info:

Divergent will be directed by . I haven't seen many of his movies. I did see Limitless, though, and thought it was pretty good. The same production company that brought Hunger Games to screen is also adapting Divergent. Evan Daugherty is signed on to write the screenplay. He is credited with the recently released Snow White and the Huntsman. I had thought that the script for Snow White and the Huntmen was pretty weak. Maybe it was just Kristen Stewart trying to talk in a British accent, that kinda put a downer on my whole experience. The movie was good, though! Lets just hope that they do a great job on Divergent! (no pressure, or anything)

Casting

Main Character:

Shailene Woodley as Beatrice (Tris) Prior:

I've heard so many opinions on this casting. Not many are all that great! I really like this casting, though! Shailene is a great actress, as far as I'm concerned. She has a nice, solid acting career. She  also did a great job in The Descendants along side George Clooney. I've also seen her on The Secret Life of the American Teenager, but I wasn't a big fan of that show. It kinda creeped me out. It wasn't the whole teen pregnancy thing that creeped me. It was actually the acting. Most of the cast seemed to act without feeling. Like robots. Really weird robots....!
Shailene is also suppose to star in an upcoming movie called The Spectacular Now (2013), and she has also been offered the role of Hazel, in the book to movie adaptation of the award winning book The Fault in Our Stars by John Green.
There has also been some complains about the fact that Shailene ISN'T a blond, when Tris IS! Well, ladies and gents of America, there is a simple answer to this. HAIR DYE! So many people freak out about actors not looking EXACTLY like they describe them in the books. Well, there is a reason for that......because they don't exist..sadly. It's a cruel cruel world we live in people. And sometime, we have to face the facts. No one is gonna look exactly like Tris is described to be. The same thing happened with Jennifer Lawrence in The Hunger Games. People freaked because she was a natural blond. Then she dyed her hair, and did an AMAZING job in the movie! The same might happen with Shailene. Just look at these awesome pics I found on Google:

The orange one is my favorite. She looks so bad ass with the short hair and tattoos, and black clothes!

Theo James as Four:

There was sooo much commotion going on about who was gonna be cast as Four.Lucas Till, Jack Reynor, Jeremy Irvine, Alex Pettyfer, Brenton Thwaites, Alexander Ludwig and Luke Bracey were considered for the lead role, but in the end, none of them got the role, and instead, it was given to Theo James, the twenty-seven year old actor currently starring on CBS's crime drama Golden Boy.
I have NEVER seen him before. At least I don't think I have. It's mentioned that he was recently in Underworld: Awakening (2012). I haven't seen that movie, though...And don't plan to. But I also like this choice. He is super sexy. Isn't he?! I've never seen his acting so I can't really give an opinion on it.
He's not exactly how I pictured Four to be. But I'm not disappointed with the casting either. I definitely prefer him over Alex Pettyfer and Alexander Ludwig, who were some of the casting choices.
There are also alot of negative opinions on Theo James getting the role of Four, but keep in mind that the same thing happened in the Hunger Games with Josh Hutcherson. Yet, the movie was fantastic!
I took the liberty of searching for some more pics of him! Look:

Kate Winslet as Jeanine Matthews:

I LOVE this choice! Kate Winslet is such a great actress, that it's impossible for this choice to be bad.
In the very beginning, Kate Winslet was on the cast, but without a role. Kinda weird. Everyone was on the edge of there seats, waiting to find out who she was gonna be playing. Since she was definitely gonna be on the cast, the only female roles that she could play were either Jeanine Matthews, or Tris's mother, Natalie. I was all for her playing Jeanine, because for some reason, she wasn't what I pictured for Tris's mother. So I got it stuck in my head that she was already given the role of Jeanine.
It was finally revealed that she was gonna be portraying Jeanine Matthews (CALLED IT!) I have heard nothing but great things on this cast. Which is a good thing! There's probably a few people out there that don't like Kate as Jeanine, but to them, I just say "Whateves!"
I am certainly looking forward to Kate on the dark side!
I also found some pictures on Google! LOOK LOOK LOOK:

Ansel Elgort as Caleb Prior

Oh my.......Caleb is a hottie! Ansel Elgort was given the part of Caleb, Tris's brother. Ansel hasn't been in many movies. He's gonna be staring in the upcoming movie Carrie, which I am psyched to see!
I was really curious as to who they would give Caleb's role to. I kept thinking "Are they gonna pick someone who looks like Shailene Woodley?" But, nope. They look nothing alike. That doesn't mean he won't do a good job as Caleb.
I personally think Caleb's character will be pretty easy to portray. Mostly because he isn't in Book 1 all that much. It's in book 2 where his role is much bigger.
I won't say much about his acting, because I haven't seen him in any movies. But lets just hope he does a great job! Now to the Pics:

Ray Stevenson as Marcus Eaton

Aaron Eckhart as Andrew Prior
