BOOK REVIEW: Clockwork Princess (The Infernal Devices #3) by Cassandra Clare

Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare Published: March 19th 2013 by Margaret K. McElderry Books
Pages: 564
Danger and betrayal, secrets and enchantment in the breathtaking conclusion to the Infernal Devices trilogy.

Tessa Gray should be happy - aren't all brides happy? Yet as she prepares for her wedding, a net of shadows begins to tighten around the Shadowhunters of the London Institute. A new demon appears, one linked by blood and secrecy to Mortmain, the man who plans to use his army of pitiless automatons, the Infernal Devices, to destroy the Shadowhunters. Mortmain needs only one last item to complete his plan. He needs Tessa. And Jem and Will, the boys who lay equal claim to Tessa's heart, will do anything to save her

Rate: 5 out of 5 stars

My thoughts:
By the end of the book, I was on my bed, in a fetal position, crying my eyes out! I don't know whether to be happy that everyone wins in the end, or cry, because such a great series has come to a unforgettable and PHENOMENAL end.
In the final installment to The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare, the big wedding day approaches, and Tessa Gray finds herself not preparing for a wedding day, but instead preparing for battle. Mortmain has gained something that might just lead to his mastermind plan, but he needs one last thing. Tessa. She will do anything to protect the people she loves. Especially Will and Jem- who are both dedicated to keep her safe, as well. But is it all worth it in the end, if the very people she loves end up dieing in the process?
Like always, I'm gonna start with the amazing characters. Cassandra Clare does such an incredible job at making all her characters so real. All throughout the book, it felt like Tessa, Jem, and Will were actual human beings. Tessa was passionate, and loyal, and brave. She wasn't the strongest or fastest, yet she stood up to those she know WHERE tougher than her, without flinching. And her and Will's way with words made everything seem so magical. Didn't it? Or was that just me?
I am completely certain that, no matter what team you are on (Team Will or Team Jem) you will be satisfied with the ending of the book. At first, I really didn't like the Epilogue. I thought it was just a ploy from Cassandra Clare, to get everyone happy, and satisfied with the ending of Clockwork Princess. I would have loved it, if the book ended without the Epilogue. But the Epilogue is meant  to indicate that Tessa never stopped loving Jem. That even though she and Will ended up together first, she never really forgot about her feelings toward Jem. Will was her love, yet Jem was her soul mate. Either way, I feel kinda sad, even though Tessa got to be with both, because Now that Jem is mortal, he's gonna start ageing. And sooner or later, he'll be old and dieing (just like will) and Tessa Will be alone, once again. Just the thought of Jem dieing gets my eyes watery! :(
The plot of the story was great. I expected Tessa's shape shifting ability to be a much bigger part of Mortmains plan, instead of just changing into his father. But the story was really great. I find it amazing, how the bad guys in Cassandra Clare's books are never killed by the main characters! (Example: Valentine being killed by the Angel Raziel, instead of Clary or Jace. Or Mortmain being killed by Ithuriel, the angel.)
Quick Question: Is Ithuriel, the angel inside Tessa's necklace, not the angel that was trapped in the cellar of the Wayland Manor House by Valentine?
Around halfway through the book, everything started getting so epic, and sad, and i could not stop crying. I remember sitting on my bed, reading this book, with bawling my eyes out. My step dad them walked in and said "You need to stop reading so much. Just look at you, crying over a book. I'm pretty sure this kind of this isn't healthy for you!" I would cry while reading the book, then get way too emotional, and have to put the book down, just to cry some more.
And I'd have to avoid reading this book at school, to prevent an awkward moment in front of my fellow classmates.
This book was just one big awesome, yet emotional roller coaster ride. it was just so great. I would recommend this book to everyone in the world, if I wasn't way too lazy. One thing is for sure. I will NEVER forget any of the characters. Charlotte, Henry, Jessamine, Will, Jem, Tessa, Sofie, Gideon, Gabriel, and Cecily will forever be in my heart. Am I forgetting anyone? Magnus Bane maybe? Well, Magnus's story still hasn't ended, has it? (City of Heavenly Fire anyone?)

Quotes:

“Life is a book and there are a thousand pages I have not yet read.”
Cassandra Clare, Clockwork Princess

“A very magnanimous statement, Gideon,” said Magnus.
“I’m Gabriel.”
Magnus waved a hand. “All Lightwoods look the same to me.”
Cassandra Clare, Clockwork Princess

“And to the devil with it if she is!" said the Consul. "One girl, who is not Nephilim, is not, cannot, be our priority."

"She is my priority!" Will shouted.”
Cassandra Clare, Clockwork Princess

“You don't think I can fight." Tessa said, drawing back and matching his silvery gaze with her own. "Because I'm a girl."
"I don't think you can fight because you're wearing a wedding dress", said Jem. "For what it's worth, I don't think Will could fight in that dress either."
"Perhaps not," said Will, who had ears like a Bat's. "But I would make a radiant bride.”
Cassandra Clare, Clockwork Princess

“And now I need you to do for me what I cannot do for myself. For you to be my eyes when I do not have them. For you to be my hands when I cannot use my own. For you to be my heart when mine is done beating.”
Cassandra Clare, Clockwork Princess

Lets Talk: The Hunger Games:Catching Fire Teaser Trailer

Let me just start off by saying, that I watched all of the movie award JUST to what the Hunger Games teaser Trailer. I don't usually watch the movie awards, but this time, it was a must!

Imagine me, sitting on the couch, with my older brother right next to me, just staring at the TV.
And then.....
Liam Hemsworth comes out....
And then.....
The trailer begins...
OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG. :D
In case you haven't watched the teaser trailer yet, here it is...!

I'll tell you what was going through my mind while watching this trailer! Take a small glimpse into my mind:
  1. Well, for starters, Katniss's hair is much darker! Almost black.........I LIKE IT! It makes her skin look paler. I know in the book, it says that she has tan, olive toned skin, but the dark hair-pale skin combo suits her.
  2. And Peeta is starting to look even hotter. Maybe it's the fact that he's older, or maybe Josh Hucherson just looks a bit more conferable. Or....maybe he's starting to warm up to me! (He wasn't exactly my first choice for Peeta at first!) Either way, he looks sexy.
  3. President Snow looks so....cold. and evil.....And old. Ha ha Just kidding!
  4. I love when Katniss and Peeta are on the train, and when they look out the window, on the wall, written in red paint, it says "The odds are never in our favor."
  5. WORK IT EFFIE!
  6. RIOT RIOT! Seriously, this looks epic. When the citizens hold up the capital flag, and burn it, you know stuff gonna go down.  D:
  7. Gale is being whipped........Ouch!
  8. Katniss gets punched........Ouch!
  9. Favorite Quote:
"Her entire species must be eradicated"
"Her species, sir?"
"The other victors. Because of her, they all pose a threat. Because of her, they all think they're invincible."

Did y'all have fun reading into my mind. Well, good. (I'm assuming you said "Yes")

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is out in theaters on November 22, 2013.

Are you excited about the movie? What are you looking forward to the most, in the movie? What was your favorite part of the trailer? Let me know in the comments below! :)

My pick this week:

 All Our Yesterdays
by

Marina has everything. She’s got money, popularity, and a bright future. Plus, she’s best friends with the boy next door, who happens to be a gorgeous prodigy from one of America’s most famous families.

Em has nothing. Imprisoned in a small white cell in the heart of a secret military base, all she has is the voice of the boy in the cell next door and the list of instructions she finds taped inside the drain.

But Marina and Em have one big thing in common: they’re the same person.

Now Em must travel back four years in time in order to avert the terrible future from which she’s fled, and there’s only one way to do it. She must kill the person who invented the time machine in the first place: someone from her past. A person she loved.

But Marina won’t let them go without a fight

How awesome does this book sound? Just that last line gives me the chills!
"But marina won't let them go without a fight"
And the cover is really pretty. The title of the book sorta sound like a soap opera, but I can live with that!

BOOK REVIEW: Clockwork Prince (The Infernal Devices #2) by Cassandra Clare

Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare
Publication Date:December 6th 2011
 by Margaret K. McElderry Books
In the magical underworld of Victorian London, Tessa Gray has at last found safety with the Shadowhunters. But that safety proves fleeting when rogue forces in the Clave plot to see her protector, Charlotte, replaced as head of the Institute. If Charlotte loses her position, Tessa will be out on the street—and easy prey for the mysterious Magister, who wants to use Tessa’s powers for his own dark ends.

With the help of the handsome, self-destructive Will and the fiercely devoted Jem, Tessa discovers that the Magister’s war on the Shadowhunters is deeply personal. He blames them for a long-ago tragedy that shattered his life. To unravel the secrets of the past, the trio journeys from mist-shrouded Yorkshire to a manor house that holds untold horrors, from the slums of London to an enchanted ballroom where Tessa discovers that the truth of her parentage is more sinister than she had imagined. When they encounter a clockwork demon bearing a warning for Will, they realize that the Magister himself knows their every move—and that one of their own has betrayed them.

Tessa finds her heart drawn more and more to Jem, though her longing for Will, despite his dark moods, continues to unsettle her. But something is changing in Will—the wall he has built around himself is crumbling. Could finding the Magister free Will from his secrets and give Tessa the answers about who she is and what she was born to do?

As their dangerous search for the Magister and the truth leads the friends into peril, Tessa learns that when love and lies are mixed, they can corrupt even the purest heart
Rate: 5 out of 5 stars

My Thoughts:
Where do I even begin? Clockwork Prince completely blew my mind. It exceeded all the expectations I had for it. Clockwork Angel left me craving for more of this great series, and I definitely got it!
The shadowhunters are still in search of The Magister, & Tessa has tried to help by using her power to Change. She feels guilty over her brother, being a traitor. Realizing that the war Mortmain is trying to start has a deeper, more personal meaning to it, the main trio will have to travel to The Yorkshire Institute to get more information. While on the search for The magister, Tessa and the rest find out thing they would have never expected.
The characters are the thing that really sucks me in! You genuinely care about them. They are characters that we wish to be, or to have fall in love with us. Characters that we love, and hate, and love to hate who make us reevaluate our own views.
Tessa honestly grew so much from Clockwork Angel, to Clockwork Prince. Finding out you're possibly a warlock, that your brother hates you and would sell you out to a psychotic crazy mastermind, and that you are the key to the said psychotic crazy masterminds plan for war, can do that to a girl. She’s strong and independent without being prideful enough to refuse help when she needs it.
Knowing what exactly happened to Will when he was younger, made me want to throw my arms around him in a big obnoxious hug. You start understanding why he does, what he does. And why he starts changing. Like it's said in the book, "Will's wall is starting to crumble". Although, it kinda irked me that Will had 5 years to look into the demon that attacked him and find out the truth, but instead waited till now. It's understandable, considering the fact that he was still pretty young when he was was attacked, and his sister died,
You learn alot more about Jem as well. Quite honestly, now that I think about it, Jem wasn't in the first book all that much. I mean, he was there, but he wasn't there as much as Will was. In this book, Jem and Tessa get alot more time together. And, oh my, that hot and steamy scene where they we kissing. :D I actually started blushing.
Now lets talk about Jessamine being a spy for Nate. At first, when it was said that Sofie saw her sneaking out, I thought it was just that....Sneaking out. I thought "Maybe she just doesn't like staying in the institute. Or just maybe, she was getting a breath of fresh air, and all her clothes we dirty, so she had to borrow some of the guys cloths" (The second one is a little far fetched, isn't it?) It isn't until Tessa actually said that she was probably sneaking out to see a suitor, that made me think, "Hey, maybe she's with Nate!" So, when she was discovered as a traitor, it wasn't really an "OMG" moment. More like a, "Ohhhh, shit's about to go down" moment. (Sorry for my fowl language) Either way, it really hurt me when Charlotte started crying.
My favorite part of the book, though, was when it was discovered that Benedict Lightwood had Demon pox. Will stood up, danced in a circle and started singing:
Demon pox, oh demon pox
Just how is it acquired?
One must go down to the bad part of town
Until one is very tired.
Demon pox, oh demon pox, I had it all along—
Not the pox, you foolish blocks,
I mean this very song—
For I was right, and you were wrong!"

So, am I Team Will or Team Jem? I'm pretty sure I'm Team Will, but then again, Jem is starting to grow on me!
Clockwork Prince was a FANTASTIC addition to The Infernal Devices series. Cassandra Clare doesn't stop amazing me with these great stories. the writing is great, the plot amazing, and the twists in this book made for a great roller coaster ride. I will most definitely put this book in my favorites list. BTW, guess what book I'm reading next?! Clockwork Princess!

Quotes:

“Ah,” said a voice from the doorway, “having your annual ‘everyone thinks Will is a lunatic’ meeting, are you?
“It’s biannual,” said Jem. “And no, this is not that meeting.”
Cassandra Clare, Clockwork Prince

“They’re not hideous,” said Tessa.
Will blinked at her. “What?”
“Gideon and Gabriel,” said Tessa. “They’re really quite good-looking, not hideous at all.”
“I spoke,” said Will, in sepulchral tones, “of the pitch-black inner depths of their souls.”
Tessa snorted. “And what color do you suppose the inner depths of your soul are, Will Herondale?”
“Mauve,” said Will.”
Cassandra Clare, Clockwork Prince

“Trains are great dirty smoky things," said Will. "You won't like it."
Tessa was unmoved. "I won't know if I like it until I try it, will I?"
"I've never swum naked in the Thames before, but I know I wouldn't like it."
"But think how entertaining for sightseers," said Tessa, and she saw Jem duck his head to hide the quick flash of his grin.”
Cassandra Clare, Clockwork Prince

“Reparations,” said Jem very suddenly, setting down the pen he was holding.
Will looked at him in puzzlement. “Is this a game? We just blurt out whatever word comes next to mind? In that case mine is ‘genuphobia’. It means an unreasonable fear of knees.”
“What’s the word for a perfectly reasonable fear of annoying idiots?” inquired Jessamine.”
Cassandra Clare, Clockwork Prince

“When Will truly wants something,” said Jem, quietly, “when he feels something — he can break your heart.”
Cassandra Clare, Clockwork Prince

Book Freebie: AfterLife by S.P. Cloward.

What if This is the Way it Really Happened?

If you think you’ve read every possible “undead” scenario there is, you’re in for a surprise. AfterLife transcends the typical zombie or vampire genre and audience to present a plausible explanation of where such stories come from in an unsettling but believable way. Even those who shy away from this type of science fiction are falling prey to the “what if” question that makes this book so unique – and so compelling. What if the undead live among us but we don’t recognize them?

At the time of his premature death, Wesley Lohmann not only learns about this unique race of humans, but due to a small genetic marker in his DNA, discovers he is one of them. He is now a Mortui, and must leave behind everyone he knows and loves. Through death Wes learns to live, learns the meaning of love, and learns to put others before himself. Ultimately, dying was the best thing that ever happened to him.

AfterLife is a richly woven tale of the struggle between good and evil, of allegiances, loyalties, and betrayals. The undead are surprisingly human and deeply motivated in their struggle for survival. Readers of all ages have been captured by the compelling story of Wes and AfterLife. Once you start reading you won’t be able to stop. And you’ll never look at a stranger the same way again.
AfterLife by S.P. Cloward will be free on Amazon from today through April 10! Go check out more info at S.P. Cloward's Website!

BOOK REVIEW: Forbidden by Tabitha Suzuma

Forbidden by Tabitha Suzuma
Published June 28th 2011
by Simon Pulse
Seventeen-year-old Lochan and sixteen-year-old Maya have always felt more like friends than siblings. Together they have stepped in for their alcoholic, wayward mother to take care of their three younger siblings. As defacto parents to the little ones, Lochan and Maya have had to grow up fast. And the stress of their lives--and the way they understand each other so completely--has also also brought them closer than two siblings would ordinarily be. So close, in fact, that they have fallen in love. Their clandestine romance quickly blooms into deep, desperate love. They know their relationship is wrong and cannot possibly continue. And yet, they cannot stop what feels so incredibly right. As the novel careens toward an explosive and shocking finale, only one thing is certain: a love this devastating has no happy ending.
Rate: 5 out of 5 stars

My thoughts:

This book, that submerges you in such a forbidden & taboo topic, made me cry my eyes out for hours after finishing it. Never did I think a book about incest was gonna do that too me. I read this book 2 years ago, and still remember how sad I felt after finishing it. I had no idea what I was getting myself into.
This story is about 17 year old Lochan, and 16 year old Maya. They are brother and sister. Lochan is very smart and keeps to him self. Maya is very social, and very friendly. They feed and care for their 3 young siblings, because there moher is an alchoholic, and there father left them when they were kids. Then slowly, Lochan and Maya start to realize that the love they feel towards each other isn't normal. It's much much more then that. But a love like that, between a brother and sister, is never gonna get a happy ending.
This book is beautifully written. The interaction between the siblings is endearing. The family problems, and struggles made my heart ache. Lochan and Maya have a hard reality. The struggle that Lochan and Maya when through did not feel 'wrong' to me. It felt loving and understandable. They are forced to grow up too fast, and become parents, while they are still children themselfs. I understand how they justify their feelings to themselves. We get to know the inner thoughts of both Lochan and Maya. You can really see and feel there love toward each other.
Lochan is resigned to that fact that he is a surrogate father to the three little siblings. But he's a ticking time-bomb. He has crippling social anxiety, his only friend being his sibblings. Maya, the kids Surrogate mother, is the only one keeping Lochan together.
They are biting off way more than they can chew. The main point of the story isn't just the incest part. You really start caring for these two characters that have to put there sibling above themselfs. They don't have the luxery of being real teenagers.

The thing that really got me, though, was the end. THAT ENDING! It was so heart wrenching. Just reading about Lochan's final moments made me want to roll up in a fetal position and cry my heart out.(Not saying that I DIDN'T do this)
You can already expect that there wont be a happy ending, from the synopsis, but I did NOT expect any of the stuff that went down. I was like a big emotional baby.
Tabitha Suzuma has written such a pure, beautiful, and tormented book. This book teaches you that love has no boundries, and that even the most forbidden love happens, with or without a happy ending. Kudos to you, Tabitha.

Quotes:

“You can close your eyes to the things you do not want to see, but you cannot close your heart to the things you do not want to feel.”
Tabitha Suzuma, Forbidden

“At the end of the day it's about how much you can bear, how much you can endure. Being together, we harm nobody; being apart, we extinguish ourselves.”
Tabitha Suzuma, Forbidden

“I mean, at the end of the day, what the hell does it matter who I end up with if it can't be you?”
Tabitha Suzuma, Forbidden

“At what point do you give up - decide enough is enough? There is only one answer really. Never.”
Tabitha Suzuma, Forbidden

“Out of the millions and millions of people that inhabit this planet, he is one of the tiny few I can never have.”
Tabitha Suzuma, Forbidden

“You've always been my best friend, my soul mate, and now I've fallen in love with you too. Why is that such a crime?”

BOOK REVIEW: Breathless (Elemental #2.5) by Brigid Kremmerer

Too many secrets. Not enough time.
Nick Merrick is supposed to be the level-headed one. The peacemaker. Since it’s just him and his three hotheaded brothers against the world, that’s a survival tactic.
But now he’s got problems even his brothers can’t help him survive.
His so-called girlfriend, Quinn, is going quick as mercury from daring to crazy. Meanwhile, Quinn’s dancer friend Adam is throwing Nick off balance, forcing him to recognize a truth he’d rather shove back into the dark.
He can feel it—-the atmosphere is sizzling. Danger is on the way. But whatever happens next, Nick is starting to find out that sometimes nothing you do can keep the peace

My Thoughts:
Who doesn't love a book about four hot brothers, with the ability to control the elements. I certainly do! I could go on and on about how how I love this series, but considering the fact that this book was only 65 pages, I wanna keep the review short, as well.
We learn more about Nick, who can control air, and Quinn, his "girlfriend". You don't really know much about both of them in the other books. You learn very little in the first two books, since the first one is about Chris, and the second one is in Gabriel's point of view.
This book is in both Nick an Quinn's alternating point of view. I actually didn't like Quinn very much. She had alot of drama, which isn't a bad thing. It usually adds to the story, but she was constantly playing the pity card. She was always a pity party. It got a little annoying, even if the book wasn't long. But she was really nice to Nick (except for the few parts where they get into fights, and she punches him)
Nick has always been the stable brother. The patient, and level-headed one, out of all his brothers. In this novella, we see that Nick also struggled a whole lot. He wasn't my favorite of the Merrick brothers. That position is filled by Gabriel! But I really liked his character. in the first two books, he was basically the typical nice guy (who just happens to be able to control air). Until you learn that he has alot of problems to deal with. Some, more serious then the others. For starters, her can't decide whether he want to go away to collage or not, his "girlfriend" is having tons and tons of problems, and he is finding himself attracted to one of Quinn's dancer friends, Adam. That's right. Nick thinks he might be gay.
Quinn has a tough family life. Her mother constantly treats her bad, her older brother, who she hates, is home from collage, and she has alot of image problems. I didn't like all the drama she caused in this novella, but I did find her kinda funny. Plus, she's the one who introduces Adam to Nick.
I really loved this book. So much is they learned from both Nick and Quinn. There lives are so far from perfect, yet they try to keep their heads up, as much as possible. The story line was great, yet short, but no big deal. Bridgid did a great job with this novella, and I can't wait for Spirit to be out!
Side Note: I absolutely love Adam and Nick together!

Quotes:

 “Gabriel. Number three?"
That killed the smile. "Yeah. My twin brother. He says he doesn't care if I go away to school, but I know he does."
"Identical twin?"
"Yeah."
"Niiiiice."
Nick cut him another look, and Adam smiled. "Sorry.”
Brigid Kemmerer, Breathless

“Adam's thumb tapped against his neck. "Your heart is racing."
No kidding.
Nick turned his head away and took the ice bag. He set it on the table and had to look into his coffee mug again.
"Sorry," said Adam. "I know there's no point in pushing your buttons. You're just so adorable when you blush like that." Then he was grinning. "Or like that.”
Brigid Kemmerer, Breathless

“Adam touched his face, and Nick froze. His fingers were warm, gentle, and Nick wanted to freeze time.
Then Adam said, "I'm an idiot. I should have gotten you some ice."
And his fingers were gone, and Nick was sitting there practically breathless with wanting him back.
One touch, and he was going to pieces. He wanted to slam his forehead on this table.”
Brigid Kemmerer, Breathless

“It means my luck sucks," she said. "It was nice dating a guy who treated me like a friend instead of a blow-up doll."
"You were the one trying to unzip my pants in the truck!"
"Yeah, well, I thought you weren't interested. I didn't realize that your divining rod just pointed into a different direction."
"You're killing me," he said. But it sounded like he was smiling.”

BOOK REVIEW: Delirium (Delirium #1) by Lauren Oliver

They say that the cure for Love will make me happy and safe forever.
And I've always believed them.
Until now.
Now everything has changed.
Now, I'd rather be infected with love for the tiniest sliver of a second than live a hundred years smothered by a lie.
Lena looks forward to receiving the government-mandated cure that prevents the delirium of love and leads to a safe, predictable, and  happy life, until ninety-five days before her eighteenth birthday and her treatment, when she falls in love

Rate: 4 out of 5 stars

My Thoughts:
In a world where love is a disease and people are 'cured' when they are of age, Delirium is a unique twist on the YA dystopian genre.
Sixty-four years after love was declared a disease, citizens of the United States are regularly cured as soon as they turn eighteen--sometimes sooner if they are in danger of being infected with amor deliria nervosa. Having seen how the disease affected both her mother and her older sister, Lena is counting down the days until she is cured. Then, only 95 days away from her birthday, Lena meets a boy, and falls in love. Suddenly, Lena realizes that everything she was told, and believed, was a big lie.
I don't know where to begin. I picked this book up from the library, thinking it was gonna be really corny. Just the whole idea of love being a disease kinda confused me. I kept thinking "Wait...what? How is that even possible?!". But when I finally read it, I actually really liked it.
Lena is the main character in Delirium. I'm gonna be honest with you guys, and say that, through out most of the book, I hated Lena. I found her a little annoying, and a bit too weak for my taste. It felt like she always needed either Hana, or Alex there to protect her. It wasn't until the part where Lena decides to run away with Alex, that I started liking her...just a little. Small note: Lena kept saying that she was "normal" compared to her gorgeous best friend Hana. I couldn't help but think, that the"I'm so normal" schtick is a little over used. Just saying.
Alex is Lena's love interest in the book. I actually really like Alex. I found him to be one of my favorite characters. (along with Hana). You don't really know much about him in this book, though. I guess that's why there are three books in this series. Anyway, Alex was a really good character. I basically thought of him as a Knight in shining armor. (Have I gone a little over board?) He was your typical "Too good to be true." boy, with a few secrets shoved up his sleeve. I mean, come on! who won't fall in love with that?!
The thing is, I didn't quite understand how Lena fit into the plot of the story. Yeah, I get it. She's the main character, but she didn't do anything in the book. (except around the end) Alex was the rebel, not Lena. She didn't have anything to do with the whole war going on. It isn't until the part were she thinks her mom is alive, that she actually starts doing something with he story. But even yet, it had nothing to do with the rest of the story. At least not through my eyes.
The thing I definitely did NOT expect, was the ending. Everything just went upside down, and then downhill from there. That cliffhanger left me speechless. But it also left me wanting more.
A thing I really loved was Lauren Oliver's writing style. She had a way of writing seemingly little lines that did an amazing job of showing Lena's naivety, without pretenses.
I would really love to read the second book from Alex's point of view, but seeing as to how the first book ended, I don't think that would happen. This means I have to put up with Lena for another book. I just hope she grows a backbone or something. I do have to admit, I'm pretty psyched about reading the second book.

Quotes:

I'd rather die my way than live yours.”
Lauren Oliver, Delirium

“Love: a single word, a wispy thing, a word no bigger or longer than an edge. That's what it is: an edge; a razor. It draws up through the center of your life, cutting everything in two. Before and after. The rest of the world falls away on either side.”
Lauren Oliver, Delirium

“You can build walls all the way to the sky and I will find a way to fly above them. You can try to pin me down with a hundred thousand arms, but I will find a way to resist. And there are many of us out there, more than you think. People who refuse to stop believing. People who refuse to come to earth. People who love in a world without walls, people who love into hate, into refusal, against hope, and without fear.

I love you. Remember. They cannot take it.”
Lauren Oliver, Delirium

“Everyone is asleep. They've all been asleep for years. You seemed ... awake.' Alex is whispering now. He closes his eyes, opens them again.'I'm tired of sleeping.”
Lauren Oliver, Delirium
